As befits a land over which the flags of six nations have flown in the course of the past five centuries, Texas has more than its share of historic treasures, real or rumored. From the gold of wayward conquistadores to the booty of French pirates, untold riches are said to be scattered across the state. And as long as there have been tales of treasure, there have been treasure hunters. Intrepid fortune seekers have canvassed Texas from north to south and east to west in search of lost mines and stolen loot.
