She spends her evenings, weekends, and summers helping new drivers become road ready.I’ve taught art and design in public schools for 38 years. Back in 2000 I saw a help wanted ad for driving instructors in the Lubbock teachers’ newsletter: “Great part-time job, $15 an hour, will train.” Two things had recently happened in my life: I had been engaged to get married, but the groom called it off ten days before the wedding, and I was left with all the bills.
