In a September 2023 impeachment trial, our ethics-adjacent attorney general was acquitted by the Texas Senate on sixteen counts of corruption and bribery related to his cozy relationship with Nate Paul, a disgraced Austin real estate mogul. Buoyed by that victory, Paxton endorsed dozens of challengers to the House Republicans who had earlier voted to impeach him.
