A flood gauge marks the height of water flowing over a farm-to-market road near Kerrville on Friday, July 4, 2025.I was two years old the last time the Guadalupe River flooded to the levels it has over the past several hours, devastating Kerrville and nearby towns in the Hill Country. During that flood, on July 16 and 17, 1987, the river rose to its second-highest crest ever. In a news conference this morning, Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly said that, based on the benchmarks on his property that the previous owners had passed along, “this far surpasses” the 1987 flood.  That 1987 flood dropped about eleven inches of rain upstream of Kerrville overnight and released a torrent of water on the many summer camps and homes along the river.
