The story of Texas women’s basketball in 2025 is best told by a sneaker. Sophomore forward Madison Booker’s fluorescent, multi-colored, pink-laced Nike, to be specific. The Longhorns were back on defense against Ole Miss in the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference tournament earlier this month when Booker, the SEC Player of the Year and first-team All-American, found herself playing without her right shoe.“I’m like, ‘Are you serious? She’s not tying her shoes?’ ” quipped her teammate and honorable mention All-American Rori Harmon, who grabbed the Nike from the paint while their opponents still had the ball.
