After a two-year delay, the much-anticipated Albert Hotel opened January 3 in Fredericksburg, in a primo spot on Main Street in the so-called golden blocks (between Adams and Washington) of the Hill Country’s most touristy town. A concept from Austin hospitality group New Waterloo—whose properties include the South Congress Hotel and restaurants such as Sway and La Condesa—the hotel’s public-facing exterior makes clever use of historic buildings, whose diminutive size and rustic limestone facades belie the two acres of new construction rising up and out toward Austin Street, just to the north.
