For much of the past twenty years, softball players dreaded batting against pitcher Cat Osterman, who holds many NCAA and professional records. The Houston native and former Texas Longhorn helped lead Team USA to a gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics, in Athens, and a silver in 2008, in Beijing. She retired in 2015 but made a comeback for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which inspired Wilson Sporting Goods to design a custom mitt.
