Driving along a minor rural highway dotted with cattle operations, about fifty miles east of San Antonio, the weary traveler sees a vision. The Virgin Mary, surrounded by colorful orbs, hovers above the brush. Beside her float rows of other concrete angel statues, which loom alongside crosses and spinning wheels decked with LEDs, crystal plates, and indescribable shapes formed out of colored glass.Most who half glimpse these 25-foot-tall installations will keep driving down U.S. 90 Alternate (east toward Belmont, or west toward Seguin) wondering if they imagined them.
