Sitarist Niladri Kumaar is a maverick musician and composer, and a powerful exponent of Indian classical music. Niladri was a frequent collaborator with the late Ustad Zakir Hussain, and their profound artistic bond culminated in a remarkable live concert recording in Mumbai, The Space Between the Notes.

In this special presentation, Niladri honors his friend and mentor by revisiting music from that collaboration, reimagined through his own interpretations and original compositions — carrying forward a centuries-old musical tradition along a path deeply inspired by Zakir Hussain. With his Sitar, Zitar, and an ensemble of musicians, Niladri continues to expand the possibilities and reach of Indian music.

Joining Niladri Kumaar on stage on Friday, October 9, at 7:30 p.m., for this evocative journey is Satyajit Talwalkar on tabla, along with keys and drums.
